Integrative Hypnotherapy In Worthing & Online

A human, nervous-system-aware approach — tailored to you

You may have tried talking things through before.
You understand what’s happening — yet your body still reacts.

Or perhaps you’re not sure what you need, only that something feels stuck, heavy, or out of balance.

You don’t need a label.
You don’t need to know whether this is “therapy”, “coaching”, or something else.

We start where you are.

How I work

I work integratively, which means I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches and adapt them to you — rather than fitting you into a single model.

Some people come wanting to talk things through.
Others feel stuck in patterns they understand, but can’t seem to shift.
Often, it’s a combination of both.

My work is guided by a nervous-system-informed understanding of how change actually happens. Rather than pushing for insight or “fixing”, we work with what’s driving the experience — at a pace that feels safe, collaborative, and respectful.

Much of our behaviour is shaped outside conscious awareness — by emotional memory, learned responses, and the nervous system’s drive to protect us.
This is why insight alone doesn’t always bring relief, and why working only at a thinking level can feel frustrating.

It’s also why hypnotherapy and NLP are such integral parts of my therapy work.

We work with both the conscious and unconscious mind — gently, collaboratively, and at a pace that feels safe — so change can happen without forcing or re-living.

Hypnotherapy & NLP

Why hypnotherapy is central to my therapy work

Cognitive Hypnotherapy allows us to work directly with unconscious patterns that influence thoughts, emotions and behaviour. It’s not about control or losing awareness, but about accessing a state of focused attention where change can happen more efficiently and gently than through talking alone.

It’s not about control or losing awareness.
It’s about accessing a state of focused attention where change can happen more efficiently and gently than through talking alone.

Hypnotherapy can be helpful for:

  • Anxiety and overthinking

  • Phobias and fears

  • Confidence and self-belief

  • Habits and unwanted patterns

  • Emotional regulation and stress

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)

I also integrate NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) within therapy. NLP explores how thoughts, language, memory and behaviour interact, and helps identify and shift unhelpful internal patterns.

I use NLP to help clients:

  • Loosen unhelpful inner dialogue

  • Reframe experiences without bypassing them

  • Build confidence and emotional flexibility

  • Develop practical strategies they can use in real life

Used ethically and with care, NLP can be grounded, empowering, and surprisingly subtle.

Hypnotherapy and NLP are not add-ons here — they are core tools, used when appropriate and always with your consent.

Trauma-trained, without everything being about trauma

I am fully trauma-trained and work somatically — meaning I understand how experiences live in the body, not just the mind.

What this doesn’t mean:

  • We won’t go digging into the past unless it’s helpful

  • You won’t be pushed to relive anything

  • You won’t be “labelled”

What it does mean:

  • I can recognise when the nervous system is driving the pattern

  • Sessions move at a pace that feels safe and collaborative

  • We can adapt if deeper material arises — without derailing the work

Many clients never come to me thinking about trauma at all. They simply want support that feels grounded, effective, and human — and reassurance that if more emerges, it can be held.

What people often come to me for

Clients seek therapy with me for many reasons, including:

  • Anxiety, stress, or feeling constantly on edge

  • Overwhelm, burnout, or emotional exhaustion

  • Confidence, self-doubt, or imposter feelings

  • Habits or behaviours that no longer serve them

  • Life transitions, identity shifts, or feeling stuck

  • Wanting to feel more regulated, grounded, and themselves again

You don’t have to have the words yet.
Clarity often emerges through the work.

What sessions are like

Sessions are:

  • Collaborative — not one-sided or rushed

  • Flexible — responsive to what you bring that day

  • Grounded — practical as well as reflective

  • Respectful — of your boundaries, pace, and autonomy

Some clients work with me short-term around a specific issue.
Others choose longer-term therapy for deeper integration and support.

We decide together.

If you’re considering therapy

You don’t need to be certain.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.

If something here resonates, you’re welcome to explore at your own pace — read around the site, sit with it, or reach out for an initial conversation.

There’s no pressure to know exactly what you need yet.
Sometimes, clarity begins with simply being met.

Warmly,
Bernadette
