Why Somatic Art™ was developed

Somatic Art™ was developed as a gentle way to explore what may be sitting underneath thoughts, behaviours and emotions.

Because sometimes expression helps us notice things differently.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be artistic?

No.

Many people who use Somatic Art™ would not describe themselves as artistic at all.This is about exploration, not producing artwork.

Is this art therapy?

No.

Somatic Art™ is a self-exploration practice and is not a substitute for therapy.

What if I don’t know what to draw?

That’s completely normal.

The guided practices are designed to help you begin wherever you are.

Why is breathing included?

Our breathing and nervous system are closely connected.

Simple breathing prompts to help support awareness, regulation and reflection. Nothing complicated.

Can this bring up emotions?

Sometimes.

You remain in control at all times and can pause, stop or adapt the process whenever you wish.

How long does it take?

Most people spend around 10–20 minutes.

There is no correct way to use it.

Can I use it alongside therapy or coaching?

Yes.

Many people find it complements therapy, coaching and reflective work particularly well.
