Compassionate Therapy for Anxiety

Personalised Anxiety Therapy in Worthing & Online

A nervous-system-informed approach that works with the body — not against it

Anxiety isn't a flaw or a failure

Anxiety isn’t a flaw or a failure.

It’s a protective response — shaped by your nervous system, your experiences, and the way your body learned to keep you safe.

Many people understand their anxiety logically, yet still feel caught in it physically.
That doesn’t mean therapy hasn’t worked — it means the nervous system hasn’t yet had the chance to stand down.

This page is here to help you understand anxiety differently — and to show how therapy can feel grounded, respectful, and regulating, rather than overwhelming.

When Anxiety Doesn’t Make Sense — But Still Feels Real

Anxiety often shows up before you can think it through.

You might notice:

  • a constant sense of alertness or worry

  • tension, restlessness, or exhaustion

  • feeling on edge, shut down, or overwhelmed

  • anxiety that arrives “out of nowhere”

These responses aren’t conscious choices.
They’re automatic nervous-system patterns — shaped by what you’ve lived through, not by personal weakness.

Anxiety becomes exhausting when protection stays switched on long after the threat has passed.

Anxiety Lives in the Body — Not Just the Mind

Many people say:

“my mind says I’m ok- but my body doesn’t agree”

That’s because anxiety isn’t only cognitive.
It’s somatic.

Your body may be holding anxiety as:

  • tightness or holding

  • shallow breathing

  • hyper-vigilance or collapse

  • sensations that arrive before thoughts

This is why talking alone isn’t always enough.

Working with the nervous system allows anxiety to soften naturally, rather than being pushed away.

How I Work With Anxiety

I use an integrative, trauma-informed approach that works with both mind and body, always at your pace.

This may include:

Used gently and ethically to work with unconscious patterns that keep anxiety looping — always with your awareness, choice, and control.

Helps shift unhelpful thought patterns, beliefs, and internal responses that reinforce anxiety.

Somatic & Nervous-System-Informed Work

Supports regulation, grounding, and reconnection with the body — essential for calming anxiety at its source.

Where appropriate, EMDR principles are used to work safely with experiences the nervous system hasn’t yet processed — without re-traumatisation or overwhelm.

Supports integration into everyday life — boundaries, confidence, agency, and practical change.

This isn’t about fixing you.
It’s about helping your nervous system stand down from over-protection, so you can respond with more ease and choice.

Anxiety Is Personal — Because You Are

No two people experience anxiety in the same way.

Your nervous system has been shaped by:

  • your life experiences

  • relationships and attachment

  • stress, loss, or prolonged pressure

  • how safe or supported you felt at key times

Therapy here is personalised, paced, and responsive — not a one-size-fits-all approach.

A Different Relationship With Anxiety

Therapy isn’t about eliminating anxiety altogether.
It’s about changing how you relate to it.

Together, we work towards:

  • understanding anxiety rather than fearing it

  • recognising early nervous-system signals

  • responding with regulation instead of suppression

  • rebuilding trust in yourself and your body

Your system has worked hard to protect you.
Protection helped you cope — but it doesn’t always help you flourish.

When You’re Ready

You don’t need to have the right words.
You don’t need to fully understand what’s happening.

If anxiety has been quietly — or loudly — running the show, support is available.

You’re welcome to take your time, explore further, and reach out when it feels right.
